In this talk he first briefly introduces recommendation technologies, their motivations and application. He will illustrate examples of such systems, mainly web-based business-to-consumer application and describe the user task that they can support as well as the main techniques used to implement the core recommendation algorithm. Furthermore, he will focus on the topic of conversational and interactive recommender systems. He presents a technology, called IQM (Interactive Query Management), designed for supporting flexible query management in decision support systems and recommender systems. IQM is aimed at guiding a user to refine a query to a structured repository of items and when the query fails to return a manageable set of products. Finally he will illustrate a comprehensive model for interactive recommender systems as tools to support sequential decision making and will illustrate some future research work in this area.
