The middleware term include some distributed technologies such as RPC, CORBA, DCE. In this context, the Java platforms provide some technologies in the middleware, such as RMI, Web extension with Servlet and JSP, CORBA support, the JINI and JavaSpaces technologies, JMS, specifically elements in EJB and so on. A synthesis of these technologies are presented, and the goals of the team of distributed programming from the Department of Computer Science from the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics from the "Babes- Bolyai" University, Cluj, Romania.
Florian Mircea Boian is professor in Computer Science at the "Babes-Bolyai" University Cluj, Romania, Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, Dep. of Computer Science. He is the titular of the courses "Operating Systems", "Distributed Programming in Java", "Java Platforms". His actual research domains are oriented in three directions: 1. Algorithms and Distributed Programming: formal models, concurrent and distributed computing paradigms, client-server mechanisms 2. Distributed Operating Systems: distributed architectures, concurrent processes, models of specifying concurrency, models of file systems, mechanisms of message sending, protection and security 3. Internet communications: communication infrastructures, resource development, and online services See http://www.cs.ubbcluj.ro/~florin for details.
