A new model of software lifecycle, called staged model, will be presented. Software evolution is the key stage and the model fits well with incremental and agile software development. The talk will explore the impact of these new ideas on software engineering. It will also explore research issues of software evolution and in particular, research issues of unanticipated incremental change.
